We'll take waste management off your hands — from records to inspection

Almost every company in Slovakia produces waste — and the moment it does, it becomes a waste originator with specific statutory duties: records, reports, documentation, registrations, training. For a managing director or operations manager it's an agenda that earns nothing, yet can hurt badly when an inspection arrives.

At Alpha Safety we take this agenda over on a contract basis and run it for you — just as reliably as BOZP, fire protection or the occupational health service. We'll set up your waste records, file reports through ISOH, prepare the documentation, train your people, and stand by your side in the event of an inspection. And because waste legislation is undergoing fundamental change right now, we also keep watch over what actually applies and what is being postponed.

Looking for a detailed interpretation of the Waste Act, definitions and procedures? You'll find them in our waste-management guide. This page is about the practical side — exactly what we'll do for you.

What duties your company has — in brief

Act No. 79/2015 Coll. on waste imposes dozens of duties on the waste originator and holder. The most common ones companies stumble on during an inspection:

  • Keep records of the types and quantities of waste and of its handling (§ 14 Act 79/2015).
  • Classify waste correctly under the Waste Catalogue, including determining what is hazardous waste (NO).
  • File an annual report on waste generation and handling — since 2025 electronically through ISOH, as a rule by 28 February.
  • Hold documentation — storage operating rules, hazardous-waste identification sheets (ILNO), contracts with waste collectors.
  • Meet extended producer responsibility (RZV) for packaging, electrical equipment, batteries and other streams (§ 27) — individually or through an OZV.
  • Hand waste over only to authorised persons and observe storage time limits.

Each of these duties has its own deadline, form and sanction. It is precisely their combination that makes waste an agenda worth entrusting to a specialist.

What exactly we'll arrange for you

Waste records and the annual report through ISOH

We'll set up your waste records to match your operation — waste types, quantities, handling method, collectors — and keep ongoing records (waste record sheets). We'll process and file the annual report on waste generation and handling for you through the Waste Management Information System (ISOH). We'll watch the deadline, the format and any system outages so you don't miss the date.

Documentation, registrations and extended producer responsibility

We'll prepare the complete waste documentation: storage operating rules, hazardous-waste identification sheets (ILNO), consents, contracts with collectors and internal directives. We'll handle registrations with the authority, assess whether you incur extended producer responsibility (packaging, electrical equipment, batteries, tyres, vehicles, non-packaging products), and cover its fulfilment — individually or through a producer responsibility organisation (OZV).

Training and representation during an SIŽP inspection

We'll train the responsible person and the employees who come into contact with waste — sorting, labelling, keeping records, handling NO. And when an inspection comes from the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate (SIŽP) or the district office (environmental care department), we'll represent you: we'll prepare the materials, communicate with the inspectors and resolve any shortcomings so you avoid sanctions.

What you risk if you underestimate waste

Waste management is no formality. Inspections by the SIŽP and district offices are frequent and the fines noticeable — particularly for failing to keep records or keeping them incorrectly, and for failing to file the report.

FailureSanctionRegulation
Failure to keep / incorrect waste records€500 to €50,000§ 117 ods. 1 Act 79/2015
Failure to file the annual reportwithin the sanction provisions§ 117 Act 79/2015
Incorrect handling of hazardous wastehigher fine ranges§ 117 Act 79/2015

Beyond the fine you risk loss of good standing, problems in public tenders and certifications (ISO 14001) and, in extreme cases, restriction of operations. The cost of professional waste management is a fraction of what one badly handled inspection costs.

Why deal with it right now — ISOH and Decree 89/2024

Waste legislation is in greater flux right now than it has been in years — which is exactly why it pays to have someone beside you who follows it daily.

  • ISOH has become the central place for reporting — annual reports now travel electronically through the Waste Management Information System, which has also brought companies technical complications and shifting deadlines.
  • Decree 89/2024 Coll. on the record-keeping and reporting duty is moving towards fully electronic, ongoing waste records through ISOH and is gradually replacing the older Decree 366/2015 Coll.
  • ⚠️ Important and current: full electronic ongoing records and quarterly reporting to ISOH have been postponed by one year by Decree 369/2025 Coll. — from 1 January 2026 to 1 January 2027. For 2025 and 2026 the reporting duty is therefore met under the existing regime.

This very uncertainty is why companies lose track — competing websites and handbooks still cite only the old Decree 366/2015. We keep watch for you over what actually applies, what is being postponed and when you must act, so you neither do double work nor miss the real deadline.

What type of company the service is for

  • Manufacturing and industrial operations — larger volumes and often hazardous waste.
  • Construction firms — construction waste, excavated soil, rubble.
  • Warehouses, logistics and e-shops — packaging, films, RZV for packaging.
  • Hospitality and retail — biodegradable waste, oils, packaging.
  • Car repair shops and vehicle inspection stations (STK) — hazardous waste (oils, filters), tyres, batteries.
  • Administration and services — smaller volumes, but still with records and reporting.
  • New companies — setting up waste management from scratch, correctly from the start.

For smaller operations we can narrow the service to the essential minimum; for larger originators we cover the complete agenda including RZV and multiple operations.

Stručná odpoveď

Waste management for companies is a set of statutory obligations in handling waste, which every waste producer and holder has. These obligations are governed by Act No. 79/2015 Coll. on waste. For companies, Alpha Safety keeps waste records, submits annual reports to the authorities, arranges registrations, prepares documentation, trains employees and represents the client during inspections.

Časté otázky – Environment

Records are kept by every waste holder, that is both the waste producer and the person who holds the waste (§ 4 of Act No. 79/2015 Coll.). Under § 14 ods. 1, the holder must correctly classify the waste according to the Waste Catalogue and keep and retain records of the types and quantities of waste and how it is handled. The obligation applies to practically every company whose activity generates waste.

The annual report on the generation and handling of waste is submitted for the previous calendar year by 28 February to the competent district authority (§ 3 ods. 2 of Decree No. 366/2015 Coll.). This obligation applies to a holder that handles more than 50 kg of hazardous waste or more than one tonne of other waste per year (§ 3 ods. 1). Alpha Safety prepares and submits the report for the client based on the records kept, so that you do not miss the deadline.

We keep waste records, submit reports and applications with the necessary attachments, prepare the system documentation according to statutory requirements and keep it up to date. We arrange registrations in the systems of the Ministry of the Environment, provide legislative consultancy, train employees and represent the company during state inspections.

Under § 14 ods. 1 of Act No. 79/2015 Coll., the holder must correctly classify the waste according to the Waste Catalogue, keep and retain records, report the record data to the waste-management state administration authority, and hand over the waste only to an authorised person. Hazardous waste is collected separately by type and labelled.

If a company places reserved products on the market (for example packaging, electrical equipment, batteries, tyres or non-packaging products), extended producer responsibility applies to it under § 27 of Act No. 79/2015 Coll. These obligations can be met individually or collectively through a producer responsibility organisation. We will help you find out whether this agenda applies to you.

Under § 14 ods. 1 of Act No. 79/2015 Coll., waste may be stored for at most one year before its disposal and at most three years before its recovery. The waste must be handed over only to a person authorised to handle waste. We keep track of these periods and correct handling for clients.

The price depends on the size of the company, the types and quantity of waste and the scope of the agenda. The website does not quote a price list, because it is set individually. We start with a free consultation at which we map your obligations and propose the scope of cooperation with a specific quote.

ISOH is the Waste Management Information System of the Ministry of the Environment. Annual reports on the generation and handling of waste are submitted electronically precisely via ISOH. We can take over both the processing and the submission of the report for you and keep track of the deadline.

No. Full ongoing electronic record-keeping with quarterly reporting to ISOH under Decree 89/2024 was postponed by an amendment – Decree No. 369/2025 Coll. – from 2026 to 2027. In 2026, the existing regime under Decree 366/2015 continues. We monitor the exact status for you.

State supervision is carried out by the district authority, environmental care department, and the Slovak Environmental Inspectorate (SIŽP). They check records, reports, documentation and the handling of waste. We represent you during an inspection and communicate with the inspectors on your behalf.

For failing to keep records or keeping them incorrectly, a fine of EUR 500 to EUR 50,000 may be imposed under § 117 of Act No. 79/2015 Coll., and more for incorrect handling of hazardous waste and more serious breaches. The cost of professional waste management is a fraction of the price of a single badly handled inspection.

Your activity generates waste, so you are its producer and at the same time the first holder, on whom the obligations rest. We will take over the records, the report via ISOH, the documentation and the handover of waste to an authorised person, so that you do not relieve yourself of responsibility through an incorrect procedure.

Yes. The collection company takes the waste away, but it usually does not keep the records and submit the report for you – that obligation remains with your company as the producer. This is precisely the agenda we take over from you: we keep the records, submit the report and keep track of the handover documents.
